NGT rules – No ready-mix plants at Noida without proper protection Following an allegation that construction material was found lying in the open, despite the previous ruling, the NGT has reiterated its stance on pollution control at construction sites, and has asked control boards to ascertain the compliance of hot-mix plants

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has reiterated its earlier decision that construction sites are not permitted to operate ready-mix plants at Noida without proper environmental protection.

“We make it clear that the order of the prohibition issued earlier against operation of the hot mix plant shall continue to be operative,” said the bench headed by acting NGT Chairperson Justice UD Salvi.

Following a plea by lawyer Sanjay Kumar alleging dozens of hot mix plants along with hazardous construction material were lying in the open, the tribunal have asked the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) to strictly ensure that there is no dust emission due to the operation of such equipment.

The tribunal has also directed the State pollution control board, Noida Authority and the Central Pollution Control Board to conduct a joint inspection of a hot-mix plant at Noida to ascertain as to whether it was compliant of pollution norms.
